Opening Scriptural Reading Mk 10:14-16

Basic Structure of Youth Ministry

A Youth Council

Ideally, a basic structure of youth ministry, regardless of level, setting, and origin, is a council, composed of youth ministers COMMITTED to transform the ministry as a community of disciples.

At all levels, a youth council must enjoy sufficient flexibility of organization in order to respond to its realities and needs. It is left to them to find their own formula of membership and identity in their lifestyle.

They share a common and definite set of values and goals, and are bound by interpersonal relationships.

As a council, they follow a comprehensive and systematic process which is, at the same time, creative and contextualized, in promoting faith formation of young people: evangelization, catechesis, and pastoral care. A spirit of openness and dialogue, collaboration and solidarity marks their work.

Composition

A Youth Director/Formator, A Youth Coordinator and a Youth Leader comprise the Youth Council.

They are youth Ministers who have undergone appropriate training for their tasks and responsibilities, and are therefore capable for the functions attached to their roles in the council.
