What: Prayer Vigil for Vocation
Where: St. Joseph Cathedral Parish, Balanga, Bataan.
When: November 6-7, 2009
The Campus Youth Ministry spearheaded the Vocation Vigil held last November 6-7, 2009 at St. Joseph Cathedral Parish, Balanga, Bataan. The participants of the activity came from the campuses in the Public High School, colleges and representatives from the Parish Youth Ministry (PYM). The objective of the said activity was to promote vocation awareness among the young and to encourage them to respond generously to the invitation of God’s call to the priestly or religious life. Furthermore, it was a response to the declaration of His Holiness Pope Benedict the XVI in celebrating the “Year for Priests."
The activity started with mood setting or animation - it was a series of songs and dances to awaken the students so that they can actively participate in the activity. After the animation, the activity formally started with the praying the Holy Rosary, Benediction, and then the Novena to the Sacred Heart.
The activity was divided into 3 Major Talks. The first talk was about Married Life and the speakers were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Castillo, the second talk was about Single Blessedness and the speaker was Mr. Ferdie Tuyay and the last talk was about the Religious Life given by Fr. Joshua Maria Santos, MMHC.
After the series of talks, the participants were then given a short break. They were encouraged to go around and visit the different exhibits of the Religious Congregations that were set up at the St. Joseph Formation Center. Participants who were interested to inquire about the religious congregations were asked to register and they were given brochures from the religious congregations of their choice.
After the working break, the participants were asked to go back to the Cathedral Church to start the next part of the activity where the students were divided into several groups for the sharing. After the sharing, the participants were given instructions and then the activity ended with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.
